City & Guilds marks your assessment and issues the certificate — usually within a few weeks.
The theory is entirely online and yours to work through at your own pace. Nine modules you can take in Explore, Deep Dive or Listen mode, and revisit as often as you like. Nothing you do online is marked. To achieve the award you sit both City & Guilds assessments: the practical assignment (2391-502) and the open-book, invigilated online multiple-choice test (2391-052). New assessment dates are being finalised now and will be announced soon.

What experience do I need?+
It suits electricians with installation experience. The 18th Edition and a Level 3 electrical qualification, or equivalent, are the usual starting point.
Is the assessment included?+
Yes. Your £800 (+VAT) covers everything: the online theory, your course materials, your practical training days, and both City & Guilds assessment fees: the practical assignment (2391-502) and the online multiple-choice test (2391-052). Both are sat in person at our centre and set and awarded by City & Guilds. You just book your dates with us; there is nothing extra to pay on the day.
Is there a practice test?+
Yes, at the end of Lesson 9: thirty questions weighted across the four knowledge outcomes, and you can sit it as often as you like. It is revision only: it does not count towards the qualification and it is not a City & Guilds paper.
What can I take into the test?+
The 2391-052 test is open book and invigilated, so you can take BS 7671 and Guidance Note 3 in. The pass mark is approximately 75%. Open book rewards knowing your way around the books quickly, not looking things up from scratch.
Will this let me sign off EICRs?+
Yes. 2391 is the qualification behind periodic inspection and EICR work, alongside the right experience and registration.
When do I get my certificate?+
City & Guilds issues it after you pass, usually within a few weeks.
